Artist's Statement
|
Photography has been a life long
passion for me, ever since I picked up my first camera, a Polaroid. In the
years since that time, I have continued to hone my technical skills, while at
the same time my appreciation for the natural world has increased. Along the
way, I explored a number of formats from the 35mm to the 4"x5" format that I
now use for the majority of my work. Over the years I have been fortunate to be
able to photograph in such diverse areas of the world as South Korea, Germany,
Australia, New Zealand, England, and Jordan; the one thing I have learned
throughout all these travels is that there is beauty everywhere, if we only
take the time to look.
We live in a world that is an extreme paradox; on one hand we
have a natural world that presents tremendous beauty, on the other hand our
world can be blighted and ugly. This makes the contemplation of nature all the
more important, as it helps us focus on what is truly important. The beauty of
a wondrous landscape or the fine details of nature, such as dewdrops glittering
on flowers or the pattern of clouds in the evening sky, should connect us with
nature and bring peacefulness into our lives. As Solomon was inspired to write "A
glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit." (Prov 15:13).
Photography has a way of helping to connect us with nature, be they photos of a
pristine landscape or the images photos of a friend or loved one’s smile. It is
important that we remember that the images photos we make shouldn’t be kept
locked away in a box, only brought out occasionally to remind us of where we
have been or what might have been, but should be shown as a means of inspiring,
comforting or spreading joy that exists in our natural world with others. Let's
resolve to share the beauty of our natural world with all those around us,
through our photographs. - Robert M. Teague

In addition, I use Lee Split Neutral Density and

use Tiffen Enhancing or Tiffen Warming Polarizing filters. However, I believe
in keeping filtration to a minimum.
