Temple of Trajan at Pergamon

The skies over Pergamon during my visit were just perfect for highlighting the ancient ruins. These ruins sit on the top of a hill that is reached by cable car, and the number of visitors that day was low. I was able to wander around and concentrate on each of the individual ruins, learning what the represented and taking a few photos. It was a wonderful afternoon.

The reconstructed Temple of Trajan at Pergamon. The construction of the temple was initiated under the Roman emperor Trajan (98 to 117 AD) and completed by his successor Hadrian. The Temple of Trajan was uncovered and examined in the years 1879-1880 and 1885.
